  • There are 1,600 Business Professional & Finance organisations employing 53,000 people which is 17% of the workforce

This sector is expected to continue to grow and with a focus on jobs in call centres, marketing and IT related facilities.

Construction

The sector will need to recruit 1,965 technicians, managers and professionals in South Yorkshire up to 2008.

Over 100,000 people are employed in digital industries in South Yorkshire.

In Yorkshire this sector is predicted to grow by 18% between 2005 and 2009. 

Just under two thirds of creative & digital employers are centred around Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford and York.

South Yorkshire’s Health & Social Care sector employs around 50,400 people.

This sector is expected to continue to grow until 2014.

There are shortages across many occupational areas including radiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, scientists and doctors.

Logistics

The logistics sector is forecast to grow by 1,750 new jobs in South Yorkshire by 2010. 

Many of the UK’s largest specialist logistic companies have distribution sites in South Yorkshire.

Examples of major national logistics companies located in South Yorkshire are Exel, Hays, Wincanton and Christian Salveson.
